To lie or not to

Am I the only one who was punished for lying as a kid by their parents? I don’t think so. My tongue used to feel numb when I say a lie and I used to regret it the instant. Good kids don’t lie! well, at least that’s what I was taught. Growing up, I was told that good karma always does good to you in the long run. Honestly speaking am yet to experience the goodness of it! Cheating, lying, all these words now represent smartness! And smart people get ahead in life!

From my own personal experience, I think smart people are the ones who have control over their conscience; they are capable of suppressing the guilt and make the best out of the moment. Right and wrong are all perspectives. The whole talk of doing the right thing only comes into play, when you start considering the goodwill of others.

I believe we tend to understand the dynamics of all of this as you grow up. Grown-ups lie a lot, we have the harmless lies, the lie for a good cause, the lie for the greater good … So if the grown-ups know this, why do they insist that kids shouldn’t lie? Do they want us to figure out lying on our own? It just doesn’t make sense. We all know the wolf and the shepherd’s story, how the boy gets screwed up by his lying. But the fact is nobody lies all the time; a lie is like the secret weapon, it is a nuke, you can’t use it every time, it should be used only at the dire situations. You overuse it, and the wolf will get you!

The only thing that comes out of scaring the shit out of kids from lying is creating a bunch of idiots, who stick to the truth and gets their life screwed whereas the smart ones, they survive and thrive in this great circus called life. Now, this would be a whole different story if everyone were righteous, or if all lied, so to all the idiots out there, upholding truth, we play an important role, we are the ones trampled over by the smart ones!!
